Monday, January 12, 2015: Truck Company 11 was alerted to 4640 Strauss Ave for the reported shed on fire attached to the building. Units from Potomac Heights Company 7 arrived on scene to find a 10×10 shed on fire with extension to the building. Truck Company 11 arrived on scene and began overhauling, ventilation, and assisted company 7 with checking the building for extension. As that call was wrapping up the assignment was dispatched for the reported house on fire in the first due.
Units were alerted to 7153 Boxwood Court for the house on fire with fire in the attic. Engine and Truck Company 11 responded on the call as well as the duty officer. Units arrived on scene to find a small fire the attic that the homeowner had extinguished most of prior to arrival with his garden hose. Units checked for extension and ventilated the residence.
At 1142 units were alerted for the first due house on fire at 3139 Warehouse Landing Road. Engine Company 11 and Tanker 11 responded. Engine 112 arrived on the scene to find the porch on the bravo side of the residence on fire. Engine 112 made a quick knock on the fire and then began to check for extension in the residence. Units found minimum extension in the residence with most fire contained to the porch.
For the remainder of the day units would run a total of 7 calls including another box alarm, a vehicle into the building and two car accidents.
